What Causes Abdominal Pain After Consuming Magnesium Citrate?
At 7pm the evening before last I drank a bottle of magnesium citrate for constipation. It did its job, but even at bedtime last night I still had a terrible pain in my abdomen. Today, the pain was much better, and I have been able to eat more normally. I ve had only one bowel movement today which was this morning that was still quire watery with only a few very small floating stools. After eating the evening meal, I have a burning sensation in my stomach or abdomen. Also, I ve been quite inwardly jittery yesterday and today which is something I ve never experienced before. I m also feeling weaker than normal.
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM. I have read and understood your concern. Magnesium citrate is a drug that may be used to manage constipation.Abdominal pain/cramps have been described among it side effects.I feel the pain you feel may be a side effect of this drug.I will suggest you stop its use and observe. If pain persists you see the Doctor for examination and tests.A stool exam will then be very important. In the meantime, an anti-spasmodic pain drug like spasfon may help if pain intense. Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns. Best regards
