What Causes Abdominal Pain After Partial Colectomy?

I had a partial colectomy done about 4 1/2 yrs ago. I have been having severe abdominal pain that is sometimes on my lower right side the. Switches to my left side. The pain is in the front and also in my lower back on the same side. I had x rays of my abdomen today and all of my stomach and small intestine are over on my lower left side where the pain is today. A few days ago it was on the right side. This has been occurring over the past 5 months. My dr has ordered a small bowel follow through. I only have about 1/2 inch left of my large intestine. I do not have a bag. Is there anyway of fixing this without doing surgery. What will this test show and what options are there if everything is sort of swimming from my right side to my left side. When the pain gets extreme I usually have constipation also. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or ideas to what a solution could be. I am a 47 yr old female. I had a 18 inch blockage in my large intestine that the dr said was like hard molding clay.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your query, it looks there must be some intussusception or twitching of intestine. Mostly you should consult another gastroenterology surgeon for a better evaluation of your condition. also colonoscopy for confirmation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
