What Causes Abdominal Pain After Surgical Abortion?
I had a surgical abortion about 6 weeks ago. I am now experiencing upper abdominal pain that is pretty significant. I went to the er a week ago for this same pain we did a CT scan and ultrasound of my intestines, gall bladder appendix, liver etc. Nothing was found. I saw my normal Dr and they placed me in prilosec thinking it could be an ulcer. It s not helping. The pain subsided for a couple days but is now back. It seems like it may have been triggered from using the bathroom. However I m not certain. I didn t even think about mentioning my abortion or think that it could be related until now. Any ideas what could be going on? My pain is my lower back aches and the sharp pain is located under my ribs all across my abdomen but it radiates everywhere in my abdomen area.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. I have read your query carefully. Th pain migrating from one part of abdomen to other/ under the ribs- mostly s due to digestive problem. It can be due to infection/ infestation / weak digestion. It may accompany constipation/ loose painful motions. Get your stools examined to locate a cause followed by specific treatment. Metranidazole, antibiotic, anti worm medicine, digestive enzyme preparation, antacids are given according to need. Please consult gastroenterologist for an expert support. Thanks.
