General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
I pill is an emergency contraceptive pill which needs to be taken within 72 hours after an event of unprotected sex. What you have done is right as you have taken it by 2 hours.
It will prevent pregnancy by causing bleeding within 3 weeks from the day you have taken the pills. Since you have got periods by 8 days, that means that you are not pregnant. You will continue to bleed like your normal periods, sometimes for about a week. If it exceeds more than 10 days, seek medical help at the earliest.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
