What Causes Abdominal Pain And Bloating Along With Partial Bowel Obstruction?

My husband has been hospitalized due to severe stomach pain and the findings partial obstruction bowel for two days. Since he was been admitted they gave them like four bags of IV fluids plus morphin for the pain. He was vomitting a lot and still is complaining of stomach. He says it feels like he s pregnant because his tummy is bigger than the usual and the pain it keeps coming back. He says so much gas in his stomach. Is that normal, it s been a week now since he was discharged but still he s still bloated from the IV plus it still bothers him because the pain never goes away.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of abdominal pain and bloating along with partial bowel obstruction. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like consuming foods known to cause gas in some people, such as milk products that contain lactose, broccoli, appendicitis, crohn’s disease, gastroenteritis, irritable bowel syndrome or urinary tract infection. Need not to worry. You should take plenty of fluids. I would suggest you to avoid above mentioned foods , eat light and non spicy specially at night , take light walk after every meal , eat small and frequent meals. If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ultrasound , endoscopy along with stool test . Doctor may prescribe laxative , anti inflammatory along with antacids . Doctor may also recommed suegery in case of obstruction.
