What Causes Abdominal Pain And Bloating Post Intake Of Plan B?

So about 3 days ago I lost my virginity to my boyfriend. We are both adults and we re very careful. I have pcos (which makes it harder to get pregnant), we used a condom, and I have been on birth control for 8 days. I was on it for a long time before that to make my period regular, but I lost my last pack and started a new one which was the one for 8 days. We also did plan b the next morning just to be safe. He also pulled out. But lately I ve been super gassy and bloated and having stomach pains. Is this normal? Could I be pregnant? Please help!! -Sarah YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Sarah.

Plan B along with the first sexual encounter and the fact that you are on birth control can all contribute towards your current symptoms. Seeing the fact that he withdrew before ejaculation, and that you are on both birth control and Plan B makes this even more possibly related to those than it being pregnancy. I should say that chances for pregnancy are lower than 2 %.

Best wishes.
