What Causes Abdominal Pain And Dry Mouth With Elevated Liver Enzymes?

My 80 year old father is experiencing abdominal pain, is weak, has severe dry mouth and has gained 4lbs in one week (belly only). His liver enzymes are slight elevated. BP normal. Urinalysis negative for infection. Scheduled for an ultrasound Thursday morning- I m worried he shouldn t wait.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

He seems to be suffering from liver disease with ascites (excess accumulation of fluid in the abdomen). He should be examined by a doctor to come to a proper diagnosis which may require other blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
