What Causes Abdominal Pain And Frequent Urination In A Pre Diabetic?

I was just diagnosed with Trichomoniasis. I have had the same partner for 28 years and I don t suspect he has been cheating. I was recently treated for UTI for 12 days with antibiotics and thought I just developed a yeast infection. But the doctor just did an examination, saw a little discharge and did a culture and examined it right in the office and gave me this diagnosis. She said it could have been in my system for 28 years! I ve had pap smears annually and never was told I had this and I had a D&C in January. I think I may have been diagnosed. My current symptoms is slight itching and dull pain in my lower abdomen. No outer discharge, nor redness, no odor, painful urination or discomfort during sex. However, my urination is frequent, especially at night, but I am borderline diabetic. Can this be an error in diagnosis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of UTI & Trichomoniasis. Abdominal pain & frequency of urination are symptom of UTI. You are suggested to get Urinalysis done (R/E & C/S).

Your Urinalysis report will help you take specific medicine which will be effective. UTI may relapse even if you have been treated.

You & your partner both should be treated for UTI & trichomoniasis to avoid infection & relapses of the symptoms.

Avoid public washrooms & sex for a couple of days. Maintain blood sugar levels, it may trigger your symptoms.

Frequent urination is also a symptom of diabetes, when excess sugar builds up in your blood your kidneys can' keep it & is excreted in your urine along with other minerals causing dehydration.

Stay well hydrated. You can apply Hydrocortisone cream in the affected area to get relief from itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
