What Causes Abdominal Pain And Painful Urination While Having UTI?

I have recently been diagnose with ESBL infection found in a urinalysis culter (spelling?) I was ordered in for follow up lab work after completion of first week of Macrobid. When I went for follow up, I still had the infection and was told to take another week of the antibiotic. I went in that day to see another doctor because symptoms had worsened. He and I had a thorough conversation about possibilities that may be causing these symptoms. He was clearly under the impression that I simply had a common e-coli based UTI. After looking at my results, he quickly began asking me several questions about medical contact and etc. He then informed me that I had the ESBL and showed me the list of antibiotics that were resistant to the infection and then put me on 10 days of two different kinds of antibiotics that may be effective. Needless to say, I only have 2 days at best of meds left and I still feel horrible and have constant achy pain in most of my torso area. I still can not urinate properly and have random sharp stabbing pains both while urinating and while just doing every day activities, including sitting at my desk.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Extended Spectrum Beta-lactamase(ESBL)-producing organisms pose a lot of challenges to medical practitioners with an increasing resistance to almost all molecules.Macrobid are known to treat these infections but since you interrupted the treatment already, going on it again might not help due to resistance.Carbapenems are currently regarded as the best drugs of choice for ESBL.However, antibiotic sensitivity test can always be used to get molecules the organism will be sensitive to.On any of these molecules, the duration of treatment depends on the patient's clinical response.Since your current treatment was prescribed with the help of an antibiotic sensitivity test, i will advise you continue with the treatment and see the prescribing Doctor before you take the last dose.In the meantime, adding an antiinflammatory pain medication like Ibuprofen will help you.
Hope my answer will help you
Wish you a speedy recovry
