What Causes Abdominal Pain, Back Pain And Abnormal Bowel Movement?

My 78 yr old husband had episode of abdominal pain which radiated to back. This occurred 1 week ago. We saw MD who ordered blood work which came back negative (she was checking liver, pancreatic enzymes) he has no further pain ( MD thought he had virus) I thought gallbladder attack. Now he has experienced 3 formed stool which have been yellowish beige in color.
