Hello,
I have gone through your question very carefully. As you said, you are on a
gluten-free diet but still, you have symptoms. This may be refractory cases which is a little rare.
So, firstly, I would like to give you some tests:
1.
Biopsy of the
duodenum and jejunum
2.
Thyroid Function Tests (T3, T4,
TSH)
3. Serum Ferritin.
Now I would like to provide you some details about gluten-free diets. Allowed fresh foods.
Many naturally gluten-free foods can be a part of a healthy diet:
Fruits and vegetables, Beans, seeds and nuts in their natural, unprocessed forms, Eggs, Lean, nonprocessed meats, fish and poultry.
Most low-fat dairy products. Grains, starches or flours that you can include in a gluten-free diet include:
Amaranth, Arrowroot, Buckwheat,
Corn and cornmeal, lax Gluten-free flours (rice, soy, corn, potato, bean). Hominy (corn), Millet, Quinoa, Rice, Sorghum, Soy, Tapioca (cassava root), Teff, Grains not allowed.
Avoid all foods and drinks containing the following:
Wheat, Barley, Rye, Triticale (a cross between wheat and rye), Oats (in some cases). Strictly follow the above module.
In each food package, Gluten-free or not is mentioned. See those before eating.
If despite having a gluten-free diet, you have these symptoms, immunosuppressants or
steroid has to be prescribed.
With the results of the tests, please post another question, I may follow you up. Meanwhile, be cautious about the diet and follow the above module which I gave.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
