Hi, I had unprotected sex with my partner(it was my first time) on the first day my period ended and i took a morning after pill the next day that is on my second day after my periods. It has been 4days till date and today i am having lower abdominal pain with frequent urination(10 times in an hour) with blood(clots and fragments) in it along with severe back pain. I am really worried about it.Can you please help me understand what it is. Thank you!!
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. At the time of the first intercourse or consummation, it is common for some amount of urethritis to occur and this is called the 'Honeymoon Cystitis'. This is usually self-limiting and often not bloody. Since you have blood in urine, you need to see a specialist for a proper clinical evaluation to exclude organic causes. Infection has to be ruled out through urinalysis. You need urinary anti-spasmodic, alkalinizers and perhaps an antibiotic. You do not need emergency contraception during the safe period as ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next period. Hope this helps.
