What Causes Abdominal Pain While Suffering From Chronic Pancreatitis?

I am in the hospital, even though my GI doctor has diagnosed chronic pancreatitis, and im having a flare up, beleive me i know the difference , they say its gastritis, which i have no heart burn, and the pain is like labor after I eat. I cant lye flat, and it goes into my bavk, and up to the tip of my shoulder. The pain is on the left.

As I read your query you have symptoms of both chronic pancreatitis as well as gastritis.
The pain which aggravates during food eating is related to both gastritis as well as pancreatitis.
The pain that aggravates during lying flat is related to pancreatitis and must be releaving during stooping position.
Regarding heart burn it is not gastritis symptom but esophagitis.
I thing you are having gastritis and you must go as per the doctors advise. Also acute gastritis is more dangerous then chronic pancreatitis at this point of time.
