What Causes Abdominal Pains Long After Gall Bladder Removal?

I m having pains in my side that feel similar to gall stones. However, I had my gall bladder removed several years ago. Never had these pains before. Started on Monday and have continued on and off for last five days with some days being more severe than others. Have taken Advil and it seems to relieve pain so I can sleep.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of abdominal pains long after having gall bladder removed which could be due to lack of fibres in diet, irritable bowel syndrome, giardiasis or some medications intolerance . The symptoms can also occur due to post surgery complications , so consult surgeon and discuss the condition . I would suggest you to avoid food like dairy products , drink warm water and do light exercises and eat light and non spicy food . If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers , proton pump inhibitor along with antibiotics and anti inflammatory. You should take diet rich in laxatives and probiotics.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
