What Causes Abdominal Spasms Along With GERD?

Hello Dr. Matthew I have been experiencing a pulling sensation in my abdomen on the left side in the region of the pancreas for the past 2 months. I don t feel discomfort when i m still - just when i walk and then it feels like a stitch like pain. I have no other symptoms but do suffer from Gerds for the past 15 years. Thank you Barbara

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Symptoms related to the pancreas are commonly felt both in the abdomen and the back since it is located towards the back of the abdomen.
There are also usually associated symptoms.

This means that the pain is not likely related to the pancreas.

Pulling sensation may imply that the pain may be muscular or nerve related.

You can try using an anti inflammatory pain killer to see if this helps. This includes medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam.

If there is no relief then you may want to see your doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
