What Causes Abnormal Bowel Movements And Abdominal Gas?

I am experiencing bowel problems. My stools are small and hard ball shapes. I have been taking pain medication from recent back surgery.I have been taking 4 stool softners a day. Two in the morning and two in the evening. My stomach feels as if full of gas, but no gas. I take about 2-3 fleet enamas a week to help go. Both of my sides get to feeling really sore around the pelvic area I thinkg because of strain. I ve had several surgeries in the past 3-4 years. In the last two years, I have been put to sleep for several medical proceedures. I understand this could be a cause of hard bowel movements. Looking for solutions.
