What Causes Abnormal Cell Changes In Cervix While Having HPV?

I have HPV and have had it for over 10 years. But never had an abnormal pap until May of this year. My pap showed abnormal cell changes in cervix. Could this have something to do with my husband getting an UTI or bladder infection? Also, what can I do to lower my HPV level because my doctor said it was high? Sincerely MJ

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Occurance of abnormal cells in cervix seen in pap smear..specially after HPV infection. Needs removal of the abnormal cells by cryotherapy or electrosurgical therapy.

Please consult a genitourinary surgeon /onchologist in this concern. Presence of urinary complaints in your husband can be routine infection. Still it's wssential to exclude certain possibilities ,considering your problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
