Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Abnormal Fluctuation In The Liver Enzyme Level Post Recovering From Flu?
I had a flu for 10 days, fever was 102-3 But then was gone, my liver level was 180 then doubled to 360, reading were 9 days apart! 45 days later my liver level is normal! The ultrasound and cat scan showed no bile duct obstruction, no pancreas or liver enlargement! After taking prebiotics, and juicing for one month, I became regular again! My energy level was always good! Why did my liver level return to normal so fast?
The viral infection sometimes can affect hepatocytes and so temporary liver enzymes can be elevated. With recovery from flu, elevated enzymes value automatically come down.
So it's a normal physiological process. Don't worry about that. If your liver enzymes value normally now as mentioned then no need to worry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
