Dr. I ll try to be as brief as possible . My brother / 55 years old , recently had a rotator cuff repair done , on his left shoulder . After 5 months he had another tear. The second operation ,showed , an abnormal growth of bone in the tissues andin places where bones don t grow. His bones were like ceramic . He also had very little tissue to work with . This was also evident in the first operation . the prognosis is not good. do you have an idea what would cause this condition ? thank you fore your time . John motzenbecker

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

This condition is called bone dysplasia which can be benign or malignant. Further evaluation is required to decide treatment, if it is benign then you probably don’t require much of treatment but monitoring and if it is cancerous then multiple treatment surgery and chemotherapy might be required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
