Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 22,ive an abnormal hairfall for the past few months..visible changes..and I ve low BMI.and I don t put weight.could not eat an average meal quantity. and when I had my cbc test, my ESR range was high 38mm/hour. and I ve no infection allergies, inflammation or anything..what could be the reason.?can I take thyroid test . because firstly I wanted to know if I ve any health related issue..and who should I consult.
Abnormal weight loss, loss of appetite could be due to chronic infections.ESR rise although non specific generally represents chronic infections.Infections such as Tuberculosis should be ruled out.Chest xray and mantoux test should be taken .Anemia, thyroid status,Liver and renal function tests may also be essential.High protein intake and adequate hydration is essential.Multivitamin tablets can be taken once a day after food. All autoimmune diseases should also be screened.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards Dr.Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
