What Causes Abnormal Heart Beat?

Hi i ve been feeling about 4 slower, more pronounced beats all evening and i can t sleep because of it. After these beats, a normal rhythm is back and sometimes after an episode the normal beat comes back a little faster and then almost immediately goes slower again. i haven t got a fast heart rate when they are here. When i get up and walk around they aren t there, it s just when i am lying down the strange beats comes back. i don t have any heart disease / the structure of my heart is all good. i don t feel lightheaded or dizzy when i get them. i do have a really dry mouth, about to get my period and are overtired. thanks

Dear ,
I can understand your concern .
I would like to inform you that these abnormal rhythms are originating in the heart. Structural heart disease is very important cause but not necessary .
Some times certain electrolyte imbalances thyroid problem and anaemia can also cause this.
Excessive intake of caffeine containing drinks , alcohol and anxiety etc can also cause this.
To confirm the diagnosis ECG is mandatory and if needed Holter monitoring could be done. ( Holter is 24 hours recording of electrical activities of heart as ECG for that moment only )
You should consult to your physician for complete history and examination and work up .
Hope this will help you . If you have any other concerns please feel free to message me . Thanks for contacting HCM .
