What Causes Abnormal Menstrual Bleeding?

i am 24 year old women, i had unprotected sex and took emergency contraceptive pill within 18 hour of it. now i m have a mid cycle bleeding for 3 days now my next cycle is about to come at around 15th march. It is not continuous bleeding, rather on - off bleeding.why is this happening?
