What Causes Abnormal Menstrual Bleeding?

Hello,

I just ended my period april 24th but just yesterday 5-5-2010 i bled like i was starting my period so i put in a tampon and took it out within an hour and it had a little bit of red and brown, since i took it out i have not bled once.Why would this happen?
