Hi,

As you had protected intercourse and as you got periods after that, the possibility of pregnancy is less. But if there is any history of unprotected intercourse before 15th, or failure of contraception the possibility of pregnancy is may not be excluded.

Some amount of blood clots and fluctuation in the amount of blood flow are common during periods. But, as the bleeding is persisting, better to get evaluated. Please consult your Gynecologist once, get examined and go for an ultrasound. This will help in ruling out the possibility of pregnancy and also in finding the possible cause of the problem.

Excessive bleeding due to hormonal imbalance can be treated with anti fibrinolytic drugs and hormonal tablets. In case of structural causes you may need specific treatment, according to the cause.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
