What Causes Accumulation Of Phlegm In Throat Along With Headaches?

hello, for a couple of weeks I've had pain and pressure on my throat. The pain is on opposite sides of the neck where doctors check for a pulse. The pain isn't overbearing but It's noticeable. I've also had a large build up of phlegm in my throat as well as well as other flu like symptoms such as headaches, runny nose and sneezing, yet no coughing. I don't have any trouble swallowing but when I do the pressure becomes more noticeable. Do you have any idea what this could be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of accumulation of phlegm in throat along with headaches which seems to be due to viral infection to your body. It could be due to upper respiratory tract infection as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with anti-inflammatory medication such as Levocetirizine. You should take Tylenol for fever as well. You should do warm saline gargles and take throat lozenges as well. Avoid intake of outside food. Do tepid sponging if fever is increasing. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and get blood tests done. Start treatment after proper prescription and diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antiviral/ antibacterial medications. Avoid cold liquids. Sip on warm water.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
