What Causes Acid Reflux After Gall Bladder Removal?
I am 37, have gerd and had my gall bladder removed 5 years ago. Over the past few months, my night time heartburn has been so bad that on 3 occasions I have woken with acid in my sinus and mouth. I honestly thought I was going to drown. Currently, I am slowly recovering from what I think was the stomach flu (vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, body aches). This is the first day in six days that I have been able to eat. Now that I have eaten, there is a lump in my throat that is making it difficult to swallow. Is this just irritation from acid, or should I be worried?
Post cholecystectomy causes bile reflux that mimic Gerd. It occurs due to removal of reservoir of bile, that is gallbladder. So the bile secreted moves via esophagus in upward direction resulting the above symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
