Hi I have had an acidic tase on my tongue for about 3 days but the tongue looked normal until just now. I have just looked in the mirror and there is a red patch which has suddenly developed on the right hand side where I get the taste. I am a 58 year old female.
The red patches described suggests a geographic tongue which is because of depappillation if the tongue. It may sometimes cause tongue discomfort and sensitivity to certain foods. It can occur sometimes due to nutritional deficiency ,anemia or stress.
It doesn't usually require any treatment as it reduces on it own .Avoid using hot, spicy and salty foods for a while.
If still very persistent ,consult your oral surgeon to rule out erosive lichenplanus.
Hope this was helpful.
Thanks and regards.
