What Causes Acne Like Spreading, Painful Marks On Chin, Neck And Shoulders Forming A Scab?

I m 31 and i have had what I thought was really bad acne since last November. It s on my chin around my mouth the sides of my nose and along my neck hairline. They are big and extremely painful. They don t pop. They ooze and spread because of the oozing and scab then crack and bleed and no acne treatment or anything has helped. Lately I got some on my lower neck collar bone and shoulders. They are the same but when they scab it is a deep scab. It feels like it s 2-3 cm deep attached in the middle. I was looking up what they could be other than zits and found things for possible a virus like the cold sore (though I ve never had a cold sore) or like a yeast infection. I also injured my back 3 1/2 months ago and it is getting worse but worse like my arms and legs and back are getting stuff and hard to move and the tendons feel like they are tightening to where sometimes I feel like I need to walk somewhat duck footed. As well as bad headaches stiff neck and back. Shooting pain up my spine. I thought these things weren t related but as I look things up I m starting to wonder. my doctor is really new and seems to not have any ideas. Any thoughts. Angi

Hello,

The acne that are spreading can be due to infectious cause. It can be viral/bacterial/ fungal or allergic. I suggest you visit a dermatologist regarding this. A careful observation and sample testing should be done to know what is the underlying cause. Along with that couple of blood tests need to be performed like CBC. A medical history is also needed. Depending on that you will be advised proper medical treatment.

Regarding stiff neck and back pain, it’s might or might not be related to your current condition. Do you have any family history of similar symptoms? Does there stiffness stay whole day or only in the morning? A rheumatologist can help better, as need to check for swelling in the joints. It can be autoimmune etiology or infection related. Similarly blood tests are needed to figure out if this is due to some autoimmune condition. Depending on that for relief treatment will be started.

Till then for temporary pain relief, I advice paracetamol. And make sure, you consult both the doctors for your condition.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
