Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I have been thinking of trying Accutane for my acne, I have mostly hormonal acne and I break out on my face, back and bum which is very annoying. I have done rounds of antibiotics, I have taken birth control and tried several different topical creams like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and sulfur I have even taken to organic methods and vitamins. Now I ve read up on side effects and all that but I m trying to see if you can take Accutane when you have Thalassemia B Minor which is a hereditary blood disorder. I know they do blood tests to check if your liver and cholesterol are ok but will my blood disorder cause me to be ill while on Accutane or am I even a candidate to take it?
Acuntane is indicated in severe nodular acne with nodules size more than 5 mm with hemorrhagic or cystic changes. This Isotretinoin cream or capsule contains many side effects.
