I ve been suffering from an acute pain in my chest area for the last two days. My heart is healthy, and when I press the cartilage over my upper rib cage, it hurts even more. My brother, who is a doctor but lives 1,000 miles away from me, mentioned that it could be a condition called Costochondritis, some sort of inflammation. How serious this is? And why it hurts so much??
Hello dear Understand your concern. As you are suffering from the costochondritis. It require rest and some medication and sometime it relieve its on with in week period.
In this condition inflammation of costostrenal joint is occur. Most common symptoms is chest pain. Causative factors: Trauma, heavy exertion and exercise, Rheumatoid arthritis, Ankylosis spondylosis, Tuberculosis. Following are advice: Heat pad application Complete rest Avoid physical activity Physiotherapy Drugs: Tablet aleve Tablet tramadol Sometime anxiolytic tablet to reduce anxiety and for better sleep.
