Hi there. Last November I was diagnosed with acute gastritis. It was severe and unbearable. It lasted more three days. I never had any gastric related peoblems in the past. I am 35 years old. For more than two years now, I have been drinking Monster energy drink at least one can per day. What could have caused this? My diet has also veried over time. For last year and half I regularly go to gym where I do intense stomach exercises.

Hi,

Acute gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining, which can cause symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting.

There are several possible causes of acute gastritis, including:
* Infection: Acute gastritis can be caused by a bacterial infection, such as Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).
* Medications: Certain medications, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), can irritate the stomach lining and lead to gastritis.
* Alcohol: Consuming large amounts of alcohol can irritate the stomach lining and lead to gastritis.

* Diet: Spicy dishes or acidic foods will irritate the stomach lining and it will lead to gastritis.
* Energy drinks: Some energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine and other stimulants, which can irritate the stomach lining and lead to gastritis.

Intense stomach exercises, such as those done at the gym, can also put stress on the stomach and potentially contribute to the development of gastritis. Additionally, drinking energy drinks regularly may have also contributed to the development of your gastritis.

You may want to speak with your healthcare provider about your symptoms and lifestyle habits to determine the best course of treatment and prevention. This may include making dietary and lifestyle changes, avoiding certain medications or substances and taking medication to reduce inflammation in the stomach lining.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
