General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It sounds as though your mother may be developing dementia. This is altered mental functioning that causes difficulty with memory, reasoning, personality changes and affects the ability to do activities of daily living.

Her doctor can assess her to determine if this is the case. He or she may also suggest blood tests to look for reversible cause eg dehydration, electrolyte disturbance, infection etc

Some medications can also cause a change in mental function so any meds that she is using may also need to be looked at.

If there is a reversible cause then this can be treated.

I hope this helps
