What Causes Allergic Rashes On The Face After Taking Metoprolol And Aspirin?

I am taking Metoprolol & Aspirin for Angina which were prescribed a week ago. tonight I have had an allergic reaction - a rash with large welts over my face, ears, neck & chest & a few spots on my back, none below the waist, after eating at a Chinese restaurant Is there a connection between the medication & the food , including some shellfish & the usual Chinese stirfry veg , pork & beef ? I am a 79 yr old female.

Hello there. I have read through your question and would like to tell you that you have developed an allergic reaction. Most likely it happened due to shellfish. And since you are taking aspirin it enhanced the allergic reaction. It has been seen in some persons when the two are taken together it causes allergy though it does not cause anything when taken in isolation of each other. I would advise you to refrain from taking shellfish as you are on aspirin. For now you can take an antihistamine like benadryl for symptom relief. I hope I was able to answer your question.
