What Causes Allergic Swelling And Inflammation On The Face?
How can my daughter find out what is causing her allergy attacks involving redness and swelling of her face with subsequent peeling like a sunburn, hives and skin rash like eczema. She had extensive allergy tests that were inconclusive for chemicals. It seems this is a reaction to sun screen lotion. Her current episode happened when she was at a water park where people were using spray sun screens.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of allergic swelling and inflammation on the face which seems to be allergic reaction.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit allergist and get allergic test such as Patch test done and start treatment accordingly. Apply ice pack to reduce redness and itchiness. Maintain good personal hygiene. Apply calamine lotion at the sites of the lesion. Take anti-allergics like Levocetrizine, Allegra to control the itching and swelling and avoid excessive exposure to sunlight and if ever have to go cover face with damp cloth.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
