What Causes Alopecia Along With Weight Gain, Fatigue And Insomnia?

36 yr old female, 5 6 , 218 pounds, with round patchy hair loss, weight gain of 45 pounds in the last 2.5 yrs, fatigue, insomnia, irregular period. Off Depo for 8 months, no other birth control. Normal TSH, HgA1c, FSH, LH, Testosterone, CBC, Iron TiBC, Ferritin, Vit B12. Have tried extreme diets (Isagenix for 6 months, with a 10 pound weight loss, but weight returned quickly when off this diet. I walk 5k 3x week, and jog. In the last year and a half I have improved my diet by eating a lot of salads, chicken and eggs and have at the most 1 alcoholic drink a week. I work full time as an Insurance agent, own my own home and have a 15 year old daughter with whom I have a wonderful relationship with. I continue to gain weight and lose hair as well as the other symptoms I have described. FH includes cancer (oral, lung and colon), hypothyroidism, psoriasis. I am looking for answers to figure out what if anything is wrong with me and what i can do about it. ?Further testing, (hair loss and weight gain).

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi,

After going through your medical details I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that possibilities of abnormal testosterone in the body can be there which needs a proper evaluation.

It’s recommended for you to get an ultrasound abdomen, insulin profile, serum prolactin and serum testosterone done and consult a physician with reports for further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhanu Partap,
