What Causes Altered Taste In The Mouth And Cough?

I have had nasal drainage from either my sinuses or I have been told it could be allergies. How do I know the difference and what is the best treatment. Seems to be clear most of the time but in the morning, I do have a bad taste in my mouth and cough out mucus with some color.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having altered taste in the mouth and cough which is due to accumulation of mucous in sinuses and leads to blockage of nose as the sinuses drains through nose.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take steam inhalation three times a day. You should take proper course of antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medications and take decongestant nasal sprays as it will relief stuffy nose. Do nasal saline rinses and maintain hygiene. Visit ENT specialist once and get complete examination done. Go for paranasal sinus X-ray and start treatment accordingly. Chew on sugar free candies to stimulate salivary flow and do rinses with antiseptic mouthwash.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
