Hi,
In the last two years,I have gained approximately 40 pounds (from 123 to 165),most of it being in my mid section. I also have very poor muscle tone. There has been no change in my diet. My periods also stopped two years ago. The hair on the sides of my face has grown thick. I am constantly thirsty and I developed a staph infection five months ago that I can't get rid of despite being on antibiotics since the onset of the infection. I have developed high blood pressure in the last year and often notice considerable swelling in my fingers and ankles. Although I have been treated for depression most of my life,my moods are becoming erratic and I feel as if I am constantly on the verge of panic. I have chronic constipation and my stomach is constantly bloated. I have been to the The Holtorf Medical Group twice and have undergone extensive blood work as well as a colonoscopy. The doctor at Holtorf put me on bio-identical hormones and a T3 compound. He also suggested taking an adrenal repair supplement, aloe, vitamin d3 and iron. I began this regime six months ago. Although my energy level is slightly better, I haven't lost any weight and the other symptoms I mentioned actually seem more pronounced. Through my research, I have found that many of my symptoms seem similar to Cushings's Disease. I have an appointment at Holtorf on Monday Feb.21st. I am desperate to get some relief. I am 47 years old. I realize that women undergo transitions at my age but the changes I have experienced seem excessive. I constantly perspire,my heart races and I basically have a difficult time just moving around. I have never had a weight problem in my life. Any advice you might have would be highly appreciated.
