What Causes An Altered Sense Of Smell?

For some time now on and off I can smell something that s been hard to describe that only I can smell and even with persistant nagging no one can smell it on me. It s a sickly sweet, metallicky and some other smells I can t identify. I have also noticed that I can taste metal as if I ve been sucking on a penny.

Impairment of smell sense could be due a simple cause like rhinitis, sinus infection,medications to..more serious nervous disorders..I would like to get a ENT check up...and x ray nose and sinuses..to rule out sinus pathology...wish you a speedy recovery...
