my mother smells burnt popcorn when none has been made. when answering questions one time for myself i was asked about smells for no reason & said sometimes i smell smoke...they asked did i smell burnt popcorn. told them no & they were glad cause they would have sent me to the er right then. that was a while back & can t remember the significants of the burnt popcorn...should i take my mom to er

The abnormal smell feeling could be due to Rhinitis like nose mucosa inflammation. I suggest you get her rhinoscopy nose examination for detailed evaluation. According to cause and examination finding specific treatment given like antibiotic cream.
