What Causes An Armpit Pimple With Pus, Blood, Dryness And Odor?

I had a zit like pimple on my armpit and popped it a few weeks ago. It had thick puss and then blood. It dried out and was not bothersome. A few days ago it started to form again. I popped it again same substance came out. Now a few days later I am noticing a strong odor. What could this be?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I will like to rule out a sebaceous cyst.
A sebaceous cyst is usually an asymptomatic lump with accumulated secretions of sebaceous glands. The contents are thick, foul smelling.
It may get infected with bacteria and therefore can become painful and tender.
In those cases a week of Oral antibiotics would be helpful in resolving the infection.
Sebaceous cysts are best removed surgically, wherein the entire cyst along with the cyst wall is taken out.
I suggest you to visit a general surgeon in your region for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as for the needful.

Regards

Hello,

I can understand your concern for armpit pimple with pus, blood, dryness and odor. It appears from your query that you have developed few cysts over the armpit area and these are now infected. The strong odor is suggestive of the same.
I suggest you to meet a doctor to get a course of oral antibiotic for the same. In my patients I generally prescribe cefadroxil or amoxycillin for 5 -7 days. Additionally it is better to take anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen or dicolfenac or paracetamol. DO not try to pinch or pop the area as can get further inflamed.
All the best.
