What Causes An Asymptomatic Small Lump On The Side Of The Neck?

Hello, I have had a lump sensation on the right side of my neck for four years now. I have had multiple doctors feel for the lump and they couldn t feel anything, and I ve had a CT scan of the neck to check for masses, in which they ve found none. I still have the sensation and have learned to just live with it. I currently have a sinus infection and while taking my antibiotics I felt the lump as I swallowed the pill..when I put my finger to the spot..which is just below my right jaw line I could feel a pea sized ball that I could literally move in circles. I have had no other symptoms. My only relief is that the CT scan showed no masses but am still worried this could be some sort of cancer. Any ideas as what this could be and should I press for further tests? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having chronic lymphadenitis in the neck giving rise lump like node.
This can be due to some chronic minor infection in surrounding area like oral cavity, ears or scalp.
This is confirmed as you get some enlarged lymph node in submandibular region due to sinus infection.
Nothing to worry as CT scan report is normal.
Ok and take care.
