What Causes An Aversion To Sweet Baked Items?

I know this is all wierd, but when I was younger (I m now a teenager), I used to love sweet and sugary things like cake and cookies. Now, whenever I even look at chocolate chip cookies or brownies or anything like that, I get a sick feeling. There s nothing in the past that I can remember that could have triggered this reaction. It s not that I don t like the taste either. I m not sure if this has anything to do with this, but over the years I ve developed this dairy allergy also. I haven t went to the doctor for this, I just try to stay away from things like Mac n cheese and milk. My only symptom is nausea. I also used to eat mashed potatoes just fine, now I can barely eat it without nausea either. Same with some other foods Is there a common ingredient or something in these foods that I can t consume?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since the nausea or feeling sick is triggered by even looking at the food, it implies that it is psychological in origin.

If you wish to change this response it would involve altering your thoughts or perceptions to the particular food.

I hope this helps.
