Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife is complaining that she has an echo in her left ear. Her own voice does not echo but outside voices echo. She said it feels plugged as if she were on an airplane. Pinching her nose and blowing to clear it does not work. She also said it seems ultra sensitive to loud noises. What could the issue be.
The common causes of Excessive loudening of voice (hyperacusis) are following 1. Chronic ear infection like chronic suppurative otitis media 2. Acoustic trauma like explosion of loud voice near the ear 3. Hearing loss 4. Head injuries 5. With age also i would ask my patient for detailed history of such exposure Please book an appointment with ENT surgeon for examination and suitable therapy like tinnitus retraining therapy hope this will help you regards
