What Causes An Indentation On The Upper Thigh Area?

I have noticed that I have a horizontal indention on both upper front thigh area. Or could be described also as a horizontal bump with a dent below my right upper thigh. I cannot tell if the area that is raised is muscle or fat covering muscle, but not in the area just below. There is no associated pain. I have had no injuries, but it's very noticeable. I don't know if it is fat deposit, and if so, why would it be in one spot, but not over the whole thigh area. Any help or ideas in regard to a reason would be appreciated.
