What Causes An Infant To Lean To The Left Side Constantly?

My niece is 8 months old and I have a few concerns that she may have something wrong with her. She leans to the left almost all the time. Sometimes we say her name repeatedly, make loud noises and stuff to get her attention and it s as though she is not hearing us or she s zoned out and then it s like she comes out of it and becomes alert again. She isn t crawling yet and she hits herself on the face, hard too and it doesn t seem to bother her yet it concerns me. Also she is just now sitting up has only pulled herself up in a sitting position once??? I would appreciate your input. Thsnks

i completely symphathize with you. when a little being, who cannot say or complain about what is troubling her is having a problem......its the worst kind of concern.....you should definitely consult with pediatrician/family doctor and start with excluding most common and treatable states.....start simple .blood count, examine for torticolis (most common and benign cause of leaning/crookedness ,treated simply by ibuprofen), then continue with other painless but objective examinations: tympanometry(to exclude deafness, commonly caused by chronic middle ear inflammation, socalled glue ear), then even eeg, since you describe certain absentness, which comes and goes, and which could be a form of epilepsy.......dont panic, take one step at a time........to conclude.....pediatrician.
