What Causes An Irregular Bleeding After Taking Petogen?

Hi doc,i thought i was pregnant cause i missed my periods last month,early this month i got my periods but they were very light,so i went to the clinic and injected petogen and had pains like i was going to labour,something came out and the pains stopped but up to this day i m still bleeding but not everyday,i just skip a day and it starts,what could be the problem?

Hi,

Inj. Petogen is a long a ting female hormone that prevents ovulation... & is used for contraception.

Frequent/irregular bleeding or absent bleeding are the side effects of hormone... especially in early weeks of use.

Your symptoms may follow the injection as a side effect.

Still... I would advise getting usg pelvis done to exclude missed abortion/blighted ovum... (because of the history of absent periods followed by scanty periods last month)... if either of the conditions is seen... you would need cleaning of the uterus to stop the bleeding.
