What Causes An Itchy Bump Directly Over The Implanon?

My 21 year old daughter in good health, about 5'5 ', 190 lbs. had impanon implanted approx 3 months ago. The past two weeks she has had brief episodes of an itchy bump directly over the impanon that last about 8 hours, then goes away. The incidences occur when she has an alcoholic beverage. What it causing this?

Hello,

The itchy bump could be due to an allergic reaction. Some individuals develop an allergic reaction to some components like barium in the implanon.
If the problem persists, removal of the implant needs to be considered.
