What Causes An Itchy Sore On The Back Of The Head?
I have a sore on the back of my head that is causing me to pull out my hair and is extremely itchy, it s been there for the last 6 months and has gotten bigger, reading the description on Web MD I think its Folliculitis but want to be certain. It s caused a patch on the back of my head to loose all the hair from me pulling it out due to the extreme itch, i ve tried every over the counter medicine but nothing seems to be working and I think it s time I go to the doctor to get some stronger medication.
It is possible that you may have a fungal infection of the scalp. This causes hair loss and itchy to occur.
Fungal infection of the scalp need to be treated with oral medication, they do not respond to topical treatment only. The topical treatment can be used along with the oral medication but not their own.
You would need to see your doctor for a prescription because these are not over the counter medications.
I hope this helps
