What Causes An Itchy Spot On The Lower Leg?

I have a spot on my lower leg that itches. There is no redness or rash, but it has been itching for about 4 pr 5 days. When I wake up , it itches and on through the day. It is not unbearable just very annoying . Should I go to the doctor? I did have a shingles shot about 3 years ago. What should I do?

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of an itchy spot on the lower leg which seems to be due to hair follicle infection leading to folliculitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you apply topical antibacterial ointment. Visit dermatologist once if symptoms keep on persisting. Start treatment after a complete examination and proper prescription. You should get a skin patch test and allergy test done to find out the exact cause of disease and start treatment accordingly. You should wear loose clothes and avoid sharing them with anyone. You should take a course of oral antibiotics. Maintain complete hygiene and keep the area little dry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
