General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Most causes of oily discharge from nose like sinus infection and allergy have other symptoms that your friend does not present. There is a rare but likely reason in the case of your friend. This is cerebrospinal fluid leakage if she has ever had any sort of injury or trauma to the brain at any time of her life.I will advice you ask your friend to stay calm, when it start again, she meets a Doctor immediately to collect a sample for analysis. Her management will depend on the result of the analysis.
Best regards
